Plastic bags may still be used and the suspension of local bag ordinances continues until further notice. Businesses already open and deemed essential shall continue to operate under present requirements. Reusable bags are still not allowed in grocery stores, which must continue to operate under the same requirements prior to the Governor's reopening announcement.
In March, Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker a prohibition of reusable bags, all local plastic bag bans lifted and no charging for paper or plastic. Massachusetts Food Association submitted this to the Governor's Office requesting a suspension of local plastic bag bans, which could be used as a template for similar actions in other states.
